Rehabilitation Services


RMCHCS' multidisciplinary rehabilitation department is staffed with experienced therapists and technicians. The department is located in the new Wellness Center across from the Hospital. Services include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Patients need a referral from their provider. Initial evaluations are scheduled within 24-48 hours of the referral. The department accepts all insurance types and handles authorizations and benefit information for is patients. For more information or to make an appointment, call 505-863-7136.


Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists offer comprehensive services for newborns through adult to help increase or maintain independence and quality of life. Skill training for activities of daily living, return to work, hand therapy, visual perceptual skills and fine motor skills. We also offer post-operative splinting, ergonomics, specialized pediatric therapy and more.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy services are provided by doctoral level trained physical therapists, who are able to treat all orthopaedic pain and movement dysfunctions. They are skilled in manual therapy techniques, including counterstrain, myofascial release and muscle energy joint mobilization techniques. The department has a variety of modalities, including traction, electrical stimulation, ultrasound and anodyne treatment. The exercise area includes nustep, total gym, plyometric and balance training equipment. In addition to adult and pediatric physical therapy, our physical therapists also offer neuromuscular, strengthening training and spinal physical therapy, pediatric rehabilitation and wound care.

Speech Therapy

RMCHCS's speech and language pathologists are available for inpatient and outpatient swallowing evaluations and treatments for both adult and pediatric patients. Videofluoroscopic swallow studies and modified barium swallow studies are available for more in depth evaluation, if needed. Diagnostic services and treatment for developmentally delayed children and for patients with post stroke and post brain injury conditions in all facets of communication is available.
