Western Health Foundation

The Western Health Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 organization with its own Board of Directors. As a subsidiary of Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services (RMCHCS), its mission is to serve as goodwill ambassadors to the community and to support RMCHCS in its mission to serve God by making a profound and lasting difference in the health and quality of life for all people in the community.

During its first decade, the Foundation raised funds to develop the region's only comprehensive Behavioral Health Unit. Today, RMCHCS Behavioral Health Services includes outpatient mental health services, a 90-day residential alcohol and substance abuse treatment program, a work rehabilitation program, an aftercare program and a transitional housing program.

In 1995, the Foundation raised over $2.3 million to build a new emergency room, Intensive Care Unit, and modern laboratory for RMCHCS. Since 1996, the Foundation has held an annual fundraising event known as Charity Invitational. This event has raised over $6.7 million for new medical equipment, services, and programs.

In 2016 and 2017 the Foundation raised funds through Charity Invitational 20 and 21 for a Wellness Center. The Wellness Center opened in November 2017 and is a beautiful and inspiring place for the promotion of health and wellness. Patients suffering from injuries; severe muscular or skeletal pain; strokes and chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease and kidney disease work with RMCHCS' experienced and talented healthcare team to achieve maximum health and wellness.

The Western Health Foundation also supports RMCHCS' Reach Out and Read Program by purchasing books for the Pediatrics Department at College Clinic. Free books are given to children ages 6 months to five years when they come for their well-child visit in order to promote early literacy development. Approximately 4,000 books are given out every year. For information on how to donate to this program, please contact the Foundation's Executive Director by calling 505-863-7287 or by email at iburmeister@rmchcs.org.
